Obituary for Bill Broaddus

Billy Wilson Broaddus, Sr, 85, widower of his beloved wife Isazell, passed away Monday, July 9th at Central Baptist Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Broaddus was born April 22, 1927 in Wagersville, KY, a son of the late Will and Willie Jo Wilson Broaddus. Mr. Broaddus was a decorated U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He served as a church leader, Sunday School teacher, deacon, and elder throughout his life, and was a member of Rice Station Christian Church. He served his community as a Hospice volunteer, as well as mission trips in the states and Haiti. He retired from CSX in 1988 and enjoyed a lifetime of farming, fishing and listening to music. He was preceded in death by his brother Charlie Broaddus. Survivors include five children Susan (Ken) Aulen, B.W. (Tina) Broaddus, Jenny (Ed) McKinney, Jean Broaddus, and Tom (Alicia) Broaddus; nine grandchildren Amber, Scott (Amber), Will, Josh, Gabe (Elizabeth), Jessica (Brad), Michael, Christy (Wes), Lauren (Yury); six great-grandchildren Grace, Madeline, Eleanora, Fiona, Aubrey, and Anna Kate; four sisters Joann Hughes, EmaJean (Bob) Niles, Bettie Sue Broaddus, Dorothy Broaddus (Kevin Kunz); several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday, 11:00 AM, at Rice Station Christian Church, with Bro. Kirt Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call after 6:00 PM Wednesday at Rice Station Christian, and from 9:00 AM until service time Thursday. Lewis Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. His was a good life well lived. He is profoundly missed.
