Douglas Edward Shean, age 55, of Irvine, KY, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, after a long illness.
He was born on May 23, 1965, in Rapid City, SD, to Gordon Edward Shean and Adah Eulaine Gray. While Douglas was the spitting image of Gordon, his personality was much closer to Eulaine’s and his sense of humor was uniquely his own. Doug was preceded in death by his father and one son, Hunter Shean. Other than his loving and devoted mother, he is survived by his sister, Wanda (Bobby) Thompson, who he often teased by telling her that her food needed more seasoning, so now holiday meals will be much more bland. Doug is also survived by sons Cory (Kaitlyn) Shean and Trey (Marlene) Shean, both of whom he taught life lessons whether they wanted them or not and by daughter Shanna Shean; and by 5 awesome grandchildren who stole his heart: Jayden, Sophia, Brookelynn, Miya, and Kayden. When he wasn’t teasing his nieces (Tiffany Patrick and Dana Thompson), he could be found building model cars or watching TV shows from the 1960s. For extra fun, Doug liked to go fishing and to gossip like two old women with his best friend, Otis Cox. He is also survived by his special friend and awesome home health nurse, Rhonda Harrison and the most amazing GI doctor UK has, Dr. Deborah Flomenhoft, who was not only his doctor and advocate but more importantly, his friend.
Visitation will be on October 3, 2020 from 11 to 2 followed by Services at 2, with burial in West Irvine Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Greg Henry, Jerame Conrad, David Brezeale, Gary Long, Chris Goosey and Trey Shean. Honorary pall bearers are Bobby Thompson, Otis Cox, Dana Thompson, Tiffany Patrick and Eugene Puckett.
