Obituary for Otis M. Curtis

Otis M. Curtis died at St. Joseph Hospital, in Lexington, KY on August 19, 2012. He was born on October 15, 1921, in the Cressy community of Estill County, KY and was the son of the late Salem Wallace & Margaret Susan Cottman Curtis. He was a long time resident of Winchester, KY. Mr. Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Christine, his two brothers, James and Melvin, and five sisters, Edith, Ethel, Carrie, Mona, and Elsie as well as his two nephews, Stan and Marvin Clem, and niece, Ruby Clem Walls. He is survived by his nephews, Lavon (Edna) Clem of Nicholasville, Donald (Jean) Clem of California, and Linville (Madonna) Clem of Lexington, Ken W. Hogan (Jan) of Winchester, and nieces, Edna Kelley and Anne Fussell of Maryland, Sue Neikirk of Lexington, and Billie Robinson (Bob) of Frankfort. He is also survived by a host of great and great-great and great-great- great nieces and nephews and a cousin, Carolyn Tuttle of Winchester. Otis served in WW War II in the South Pacific aboard the USS Indiana as a signalman and earned twelve Battle Stars. He worked for the federal government at Avon where he was a craftsman. He is being honored with a military funeral. The funeral service is at Lewis Funeral Home in Irvine, KY on Tuesday August 21 at 2:00 P M. Visitation will begin at noon. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Lavon Clem. He will be buried in West Irvine Cemetery. His great nephews Lloyd Walls, Scott and Jeff Robinson, Mark and David Neikirk, Jeff Hancock, Jim Seamans and Michael Hogan will serve as pallbearers.
