Obituary

Alice Brooks, age 80, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky. She was born on Sunday, September 2, 1945, in Estill County, Kentucky, to the late Stanley Crouch and Geneva Barnes.

Alice was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and nothing brought her more happiness than having her family gathered around her. Alice leaves behind many cherished memories that her loved ones will hold close to their hearts for years to come. Her love and devotion to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and her beloved grandson, Jody Young.

Alice is survived by her loving husband of many years, Orville Brooks; four daughters, Theresa Brooks Young (Ricky Tipton) of Stanton, Kentucky, Tracey Brooks Powell of Irvine, Kentucky, Terri Brooks of Stanton, Kentucky, and Tanya Brooks Brandenburg (Joey) of Irvine, Kentucky; and one son, Kenneth Brooks (Heather) of Irvine, Kentucky.

She is also survived by two special nieces, Donna Stone and Evelyn Brooks, both of Estill County; two special sisters-in-law, Betty Lou Mays and Betty Brooks; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly and who were truly her pride and joy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home of Irvine. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Marvin Neal officiating. Burial will follow in the Brooks Family Cemetery.

Larry Stone, Tanner Chaney, Austin Gill, Colton Brandenburg, Hayden Brooks, and Dalton Young will serve as active pallbearers. Skylar Stone and all of Alice’s granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lewis Funeral Home Of Irvine.
