Atwood Winkle age 84, of Winchester, Kentucky, formally of Irvine, departed this life on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the VA hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Atwood was born in Irvine, Kentucky on April 9,1939 to the late Charlie and Loutisha Cox Winkle.
In addition to his parents Mr. Winkle is also preceded in death by; his loving wife Mary Carlene Click Winkle, two brothers: Edgar and Ronald W. Winkle and 3 sisters: Irene Lowry, Louise Winkler, and Alpha Wison.
Mr. Winkle served in the United States Army in Germany, Mississippi, Georgia and Alabama. He was a member of the Ruckerville Church of Christ for over 30 yrs, served as youth director for 25 yrs. and pastor at Antioch Christian Church for 20yrs.
Survivors include: one brother Lowell Winkle, a special niece Vonda Vermillion and husband Albert, along with numerous other nieces and nephews, 1 special friend: Barbara, and numerous other relatives and friends to miss and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Atwood Winkle will be conducted on February 19, 2024, at 2:00 P.M in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals. Brother Allen Epperson will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Crowe Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 P.M at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jarrod and Terry Winkle, Ethan and Van Vermillion, and Colin and Trenton Reddix. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad, Jeremy, Jeff and Karen Trennepohl, Sonya Reddix, Julie Winkle and Erica Gazdik.
Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #79 at the Cemetery.
