Charles Hughes, age 86, of Irvine, Kentucky passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, with his loving wife of 65 years, Joline Newton Hughes, by his side.

Charles was born on February 20, 1939 in Lee County, Kentucky to the late Clarence and June Daugherty Hughes. He served in the United States Army as an MP and retired from the Department of Defense as a Programmer Analyst after 30 years of service. Charles was also a member of Stafford Lodge# 562 as well as a past Master, a member of the Oleika Shriner Temple of Lexington, Kentucky and a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory.

Survivors in addition to his wife , include 1 son, Robert Hughes (Katrica), 3 grandchildren, Chelsea Ranay' Fore, Pamela Lue Hughes and Darrien Michelle Hughes; 5 great-grandchildren, Annalise Michelle, Tyson Michael Wayne, Bristyl Faye, Aurora Grace and Lovisa Ann; 1 sister, Sheryl Lynn Howard (Art), 1 brother, Daryl Lee Hughes (Patricia), numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.

Along with his parents, Charles was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Vicki Michelle Hughes and Pamela Sue Hughes Worrell, 1 son, Charles Michael Hughes, 1 sister, Patricia Gail Andruskewicz and 3 brothers, Burnell Hughes, Clarence William Hughes and Gary Michael Hughes.

Funeral services for Charles will be conducted on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals with Brother Jerry Rose officiating. Interment will follow in West Irvine Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday, April 18, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Lewis Home for Funerals. A Masonic service will be held at 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Clarence Worrell, David Worrell, Art Howard, Dick Newton, Steve Everman and Dwight O'Hair.
