Donald Lewis Newman, 74, of Nicholasville, formerly of Irvine, husband of Mattie Ann Combs, passed away March 3rd. Mr. Newman was a native of Estill County, a son Wannetta Lynam Newman and the late Otis Newman. He was a tinkerer, loved antique cars, gardening, animals, and his family. Mr. Newman was a veteran of the both the Army and the Air Force, serving his country in Viet Nam. Survivors other than his wife Mattie, include his sons Scott (and wife Marie) Newman, Brad (and wife Keira) Newman; his step-sons Therron Combs, James Anthony Combs, Duane Combs; his step-daughter Judy (and husband Gary) Derring; his grandchildren Darian Newman, Ashley Newman, Nicole Newman, Reace Newman; his great-granddaughter Delany; ten step grandchildren; eight great-step-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be held Monday, March 10th, 2:00 pm at Lewis Funeral Home with Larry Frymeyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Double Oak Cemetery, with military rites.
