Obituary

Edith Howard Johnson, 98, widow of Everett Johnson, passed away Thursday, October 25, in the presence of family after a long illness. Mrs. Johnson was a native of Estill County, a daughter of the late Uncas and Birdie Hawkins Howard. She was a retiree of the Estill County School System, and a lifelong member of the Bethel Christian Church. She proudly served in the WPA during WWII. Mrs. Johnson was loved so deeply by her children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers and all who knew her. She was well know for her beautiful quilts and other handiwork, many remember her delicious yeast rolls and beautiful flowers. She was truly a woman of faith and virtue. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Everett; her sisters Mary Floyd Johnson, Lucille Webb; her brothers Uncas Howard Jr., and Earl Francis Howard. Survivors include her children Wendell, Douglas, George Michael and companion Terri, Jenny and husband Steve Wurzback; her grandchildren Stewart Johnson, Patty Johnson, Candace and husband Clay Mansfield, Andrea and husband Shane Cox, Michael and wife Lanne Johnson, Justin and wife Natasha Johnson, Jonathan Wurzback and Rebekah Wurzback; great-grand children Clay, Rachel, and Mary Mansfield, Trenton and Cody Cox, Michaeh, Andrew and Declan Johnson and Megan Cox; two great-great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren Greg Harrison and Leigh Ann Lamb; five step-great-grandchildren; her sisters Hazel Wiseman, Leoma Woosley, Anna Allen, Sarah Thacker, Clara Johnson, Effie Moore. Services will be held Sunday, October 28th, 1:30 PM at the Bethel Christian Church with Bros. Doyle Spry, Ron Lutes officiating. Burial will follow in the Woods Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 6:00 PM Saturday at the Lewis Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be George Michael Johnson, Michael H. Johnson, Justin D. Johnson, Jonathan S. Wurzback, Clay Mansfield Jr. and Shane Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews. Service: 1:30 PM Sunday, October 28th, 2012 Bethel Christian Church Visitation: 6:00 PM Saturday, October 27th, 2012 Lewis Funeral Home
