Obituary

Elby Jett Cox, 80, passed away Saturday, March 19th, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. Mr. Cox was a native of Estill County, a son of the late James and Lora Estes Cox. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Fitchburg, and enjoyed working in his shop with his tools, making everything work with what he had. He was a veteran, serving in the Army. He was preceded in death by his brother Delbert Cox; his sister Vila Mae Lutes. Survivors include his children Debra ( Gary) Freeman, Kathy Watson, Joey Allen Cox, Jason (April) Cox, Sheila ( Marty) Leslie, Clarissa (Missy Cole) Cox, Elby Jared (Misty) Cox; his brothers Lenzy (Cleta) Cox, Utah Cox, and Sheldon (Linda) Cox; his grandchildren James Freeman, Andy Watson, Cory Cox, Cody Cox, Courtney Cox, Casaundra Mink, Megan Cox, Hannah Smith, Tanner Cox, Julian Cox, Abigail Cox, and Madelyn Cox; his great-grandchildren Slade Freeman, Dalton Riddle, and Daxton Harrison. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 26th, 2016, 2:00 pm at Lewis Funeral Home with Sam Miller officiating. The family will receive friends after 11:00 am until service time.
