Florence Covey, 90, widow of Almassa Covey, passed away Saturday at her home. She was a native of Estill County, a daughter of the late Coleman and Lucy Mae Griffin Gray. She was a retired employee of Carhart, a member of Turning Point Apostolic Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and painting. She was preceded in death by her sons Leon and Pete Covey; her brothers Mitchel, Samuel, Clifton, Coleman Jr., Lola, Albert, Alvin and Glenn Gray; her sisters Catherine and Wanda Gray.
Survivors include her sons Al (and wife Wilma) Covey, Coleman Covey, Gary (and wife Stella) Covey; her daughters Diana Frymyer, Sherry Covey, Pam Brandenburg, Leatha (and husband James) Berger, Carolyn Covey, and Mickey Embs; her brother Daniel (and wife Betty) Gray; her sister Wilma Herman; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, at 2:00 pm at the Turning Point Apostolic Church with Pastors Larry McIntosh and Roscoe Conley officiating. Burial will follow in the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 11:00 am at the church until service time.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Brandenburg, Gary Covey Jr., Dwayne Covey, Shawn Embs, Tyler Sparks, Abram Foust. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Riegel, James Berger, Richard Embs, Jonathan Covey, Clay Hatton and Russell McIntosh.
