Obituary

Fred Claude Ginter, age 102, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on March 6, 1923, in Ravenna, Kentucky, to the late Clay Ginter and Edith Ginter.

Fred was a lifelong member of Cow Creek Baptist Church, where he faithfully worshiped and continually praised the Lord for the many blessings of his long life. He loved God deeply and never missed an opportunity to share his faith and tell others how great his God was. Attending church brought him great joy and strength throughout the years.

He dedicated much of his working life to CSX Railroad, from which he later retired. A proud World War II veteran, Fred honorably served his country and was a member of the American Legion.

Fred found great happiness in gardening and farming. He took pride in tending his garden and was always generous in sharing its bounty with others. When he wasn't working in the garden, he could often be found on his farm, where he found peace and contentment in the simple joys of country life.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delma Ginter; one sister, Thelma Pasley; a granddaughter, Rachel Ginter; and a son-in-law, Eldon Hughes.

He is survived by one daughter, Hope Hughes, and one son, Rick (Sharon) Ginter, both of Estill County; one granddaughter, Alison (Joshua) Napier of Newport, Kentucky; one grandson, Clay Ginter of Estill County, one step-grandson, James Hood (Elizabeth) Hughes of Estill County; his pride and joy, great-grandson Dawson Napier; and a host of nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

A memorial service officiated by Bro. Joe Lahremer will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, with a private graveside service to follow.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lewis Funeral Home of Irvine.
