Glendon Mays, age 84, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at his home.

Mr. Mays was born on January 17, 1939, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Wilson and Cleota Metcalf Mays.

In addition to his parents, Glendon was also preceded in death by his wife, Delphine Sparks Mays, his son, Tim Mays, along with 10 brothers and sisters.

In addition to being a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Mays was also a minister for over 50 years, including 30 years at Antioch Christian Church and over 10 years at Beaver Pond Christian Church.

Glendon is survived by his children, William Leon Mays, Stephen Mays and wife Helen, Pam Carpenter and Jerry, and Michael Keith Mays and wife Joyce Ann. Seven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ to miss him and mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Glendon Mays will be conducted on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals with Brother Matthew Wampler officiating. Interment will follow in the South Irvine Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Military Graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #79 Honor Guard.

The pallbearers will be, Stephen and Michael Mays, Jerry Carpenter, Joe Brewer, and Michael Clark.
