Jewell Morton Scrivner Wagers, 94, widow of Ernest Quinn Wagers, passed away Saturday at the Irvine Health and Rehab center after a long illness. Mrs. Wagers was a native of Estill County, a daughter of the late John Morton Scrivner and Minnie Rice Scrivner. He was a member of the South Irvine Christian Church, where she served as church clerk for 63 years. She was a former employee of Crouch's Town & Country, and Rite-Way. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest; her son Larry Wagers, her brother Carlton Scrivner; and her sister Eudell Scrivner; her friend Lillian Alcorn. Survivors include her daughter Phyllis Wagers, her daughter-in-law Joan Fowler Wagers; her grandson Steven (and wife Amber) Wagers; great-grandchildren Sarah & Shelby Wagers; her friend Dora Winkle. Services will be held Saturday, July 5th, at 1:00 pm at Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Chism and Bro. Glendon Mays officiating. Burial will follow in the Brinegar Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 6:00 pm Friday, July 4th. Pallbearers will be Steven Wagers, Frank Pittman, Dr. Garnett Brown, and Danny Fowler.
