Obituary

Julia Estes Murphy, 97, widow of Chester Lee Murphy, passed away Tuesday April 9th, at the Marcum-Wallace Hospital. Mrs. Murphy was a native of Old Landing in Lee County, a daughter of the late Levi and Ida Griffin Estes. Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her sisters Flora Combs, Mary Lynch, Maefra Kiser; her brothers Grant Estes, A.W. Estes; her half-sisters Donie Alcorn, Lucy Guy, Daisy Neal, Addie B. Anderson, Reva Hall, Mamie Rooks; her half-brothers Stanley Estes and Deward Estes. Survivors include her daughter Edna G. Murphy; her son Dickie L. Murphy; her sister Ethel Katherine Stamper of Beattyville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday, April 12th, 11:00 AM at Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Groves officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call anytime after 6:00 PM Thursday. Pallbearers will be Melvin Wiseman, James Hood Hughes, Roy Embs, Willard Stamper, Donald Collier, and Michael Stamper. Honorary pallbearers will be all nieces and nephews.
