Leonard Blevins, 87, passed away after a sudden illness at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was born October 15, 1927 in Estill County, KY, to the late John M and Amanda J McQueen Blevins. He had lived in Estill County most of his life. He was a World War II veteran and retired from the Lexington Bluegrass Army Depot, Richmond Activity. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Verena M Parker Blevins, a son, Michael L Blevins. Four brothers, Joe, Pal, Hobert Gene(Bud), and Fred Blevins. Two sisters, Hazel Smith and Veda Arnold. He is survived by a daughter, Melody (Doe) Tipton and husband Tim, Irvine, KY. A son, Terry L Blevins. One brother, Eli Blevins (Gladys) of Hamilton, OH, one sister, Kathleen Compston, Irvine, KY. Six grandchildren, Brittany M Woolery, PV2 Levi Tipton, Mackenzie T Robbins, Michael Blevins, Morgan Tipton, Autumn Tipton and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday, October 1st at Lewis Funeral Home, Irvine, KY. Visitation beginning at 11:00 and Funeral following at 2pm. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens with military honors. Survivors include his daughter Melody (Tim) Tipton; his son Terry Blevins; his brother Eli (Gladys) Blevins; his sisters Veda (Wallace) Arnold, and Kathleen Blevins; his grandchildren Brittany Woolery, Mackenzie Robbins Blevins, Levi Tipton, Michael Blevins, Morgan Tipton, and Autumn Tipton; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday, ��October 1st, 2015, 2:00 pm at the Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, with full military honors. Friends may call Thursday, after 11:00 am until service time.
