Manuel Ray Tipton, 72, of Laurel St., husband of Shirley Burgan Tipton, passed away Tuesday, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, after a long illness. He was a native of Estill County, a son of the late Pearl and Biddie Barnes Tipton. Mr. Tipton was a retired employee of the General Motors Corporation. He was member of the Mt. Carmel Church, and a member of the #562 Stafford Lodge F&AM. He was preceded in death by his brother Neal; his sisters Emma Lee Watson, Golden Johnon, Donna Peck, Frances McKie, and Virginia Carol Tipton; and his brother in law Wayne Burgan. Survivors other than his wife of 43 years, Shirley Burgan Tipton, include a son Dwayne Tipton and fiance' Megan Addison; his brothers Brad and wife Shelia, Paul and wife Rhonda, Melvin and wife Sis Tipton; his sisters Dorthy and husband Johnny Ballard, and Louise McIntosh; his sisters-in-law Christine Tipton and Jo Ann Burgan; his brother-in-law Glen Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Saturday, June 16th, 2:00 PM at Lewis Funeral Home with Bros'. Butch Arvin and Larry Frymeyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Gray Cemetery.
