Marcus Wayne Thacker, 78, of Irvine, passed away Saturday, February 11th, 2017 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. A native of Buchanan Virginia, he was the son of the late Lillian Newkirk Thacker Barnes. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Hoy Gayle, John Wesley, Harold Edward, and James Roscoe Thacker. Mr. Thacker is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Hatfield Thacker; sons, Marcus Jr. (Donna), Hoyvan (Teresa), Jesse Taylor (Sandy Melton) Thacker; daughter, Matewood Thacker Kortbein; six grandchildren, Marcus Thacker III, Jessica D. Thacker (Michael), Michael A. Thacker, Jason Taylor Thacker, Dylan Joseph Kortbein, and Gavin Martin Thacker; and several nieces and nephews. Marcus was an avid outdoorsman and was a buyer of medicinal herbs and ginseng for the last 15 years. There are no services planned at this time. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
