Marie Thacker Abney, age 59, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Baptist Health. She was born to the late Joe Pendergest and Mattie Pendergest.

Marie was known for her kind and generous spirit. She had a big heart and was always willing to help others in any way she could. She also found great joy in crafting and expressed her creativity through her many handmade creations.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepson, Aaron Abney; two sisters, Peggy Patrick and Stella Gray; and one brother, Joe Pendergest.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Ova Abney; two sons, Justin Thacker and Coty (Amber) Abney, both of Irvine, Kentucky; two sisters, Carol (Jim) Hall and Dorita Marcum, both of Irvine; one special niece, Robin Alexander; and a special family friend, the father of her son, Coty.

A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lewis Funeral Home of Irvine.
