Martha Christine Parsons Abel, 65, widow of Vance Abel, passed away Wednesday at her home. Mrs. Abel was a native of Lenoir, NC, a daughter of Clarence and Gracie Odom Parsons. She was a homemaker who enjoyed drawing, collecting antique toys, music, and playing the piano. She attended various congregations, but was a member of the Lord's Church. Survivors include he sons Eugene Abel, Jonathan Abel, and Philip (and wife Alicia) Abel; her brothers James, Clarence Ed, Thomas, Glen and Wayne Parsons; her sisters Joyce Calloway and Clarice Nelson; her grandchildren Kaytlyn, John, Zoey, and Madison Abel; very special friends Veronica Croucher, Layden, and Layla. There will be a memorial service at 9:00 pm on Saturday, May 7th, 2016 at Lewis Funeral Home. Bro. Linville Dunaway will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until service time.
