Martha Elizabeth
Royalty
October 24, 1926 – December 9, 2025
Martha Elizabeth (Davis) Royalty was born October 24, 1926, to Hazel and Harry Davis in Paintsville, Ky. She was a graduate of Paintsville High School then attended Centre College in Danville, Ky but transferred to the University of Kentucky to pursue a degree in Library Science.
After graduating Martha moved to Irvine, Kentucky where she was librarian at Irvine High School and where she met and married E.P. Royalty. They had 3 children; Robert Davis, Elizabeth Hart and Charles William.
Martha was a dedicated member of the First Christian Church in Irvine Ky, and an avid daily reader of the Bible and The Upper Room. She was also a member of Four Seasons Garden Club, Friends of the Library, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Estill County Golf Club and Retired Teachers.
Martha was a friend and mentor to a broad array of students throughout her career at both Irvine and Estill County Public Schools. They visited her at home after her retirement and continued visits to her nursing home.
Martha was very special to her family as a uniquely selfless and wonderfully supportive mother and wife. Her outstanding wit and clever quotes kept everyone amused and on their toes. Her honest heart was evident and visible in her words and actions throughout her life.
Martha enjoyed golf, gardening, cooking and reading. She also looked forward to her trips to New York seeing plays, and her trips abroad that were always a highlight as were her grandchildren Eleanor Hart (Scott) Snavely and Campbell Hart.
We wish to thank Sharon Horn for being another daughter, and her other Granny, Linda Steel, for all their love and support. We also want to thank the staff and residents at Morning Point, and Telford Terrace for making a difficult time easier with their encouragement and dedication.
Visitation is 3:00-5:00 pm December 19, 2025, at the Irvine First Christian Church on 270 Main Street, Irvine, Kentucky. A Private Burial service will be the following day.
Lewis Funeral Home of Irvine is in charge of arrangements.
