Obituary

Mary Hope Adams Hardy, 94, widow of Ray Hardy Sr. passed away Tuesday, July 24th, at the UK Medical Center, after a short illness. Mrs. Hardy was a native of Estill County, born November 17th 1917,. She was a daughter of the late James H. and Nannie Kirby Adams. She was married to Ray, on October 29th, 1937. Ray would be her husband until his death 46 years later. Mary and Ray; Ray's brother H.T. and his wife Doris started Hardy Brothers store, and ran it for many, many years. She was a member of Rice Station Christian Church and also attended Sandhill Christian Chuch. Mrs. Hardy found great satisfaction in feeding her family and friends with wonderful homemade cooking. She was preceded in death by her brothers Dick, Willie, Hume, Tom, and Dewey Adams; her sisters Katie Blackwell, Mabel Gould, Blanche Brooks, Ruth Tuttle, and Anna Floyd. Survivors include her daughters Patricia Ann (Emerson) Jones, Susan K. Hardy; her son Ray Harold (Freda) Hardy Jr.; her grandchildren George Emerson (Kris) Jones, Jeffery (Kellie) Jones, Timothy Ray Jones, Amy Hardy (Steve) Farmer, Tammy Lynn Hardy, Ray Harold Hardy III; great grandchildren Andrew Farmer, Rachel Jones, Amelia Farmer, Mary Pat Jones, Caroline Jones, Rebecca Jones, Jarod Jones, Justin Jones, and Kelsie Jones; great-great-grandchild Reagan Ross; nieces Nancy Barnette and Amelia "Cookie" Adams. Services will be held Saturday, July 28th, 2:00 PM at the Rice Station Christian Church with Kirt Scott, Bill Welker, Leo Crowe and Ron Lutes officiating. Burial will follow in the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call after 6:00 PM Friday at the church, and from 10:00 AM until service time Saturday. Lewis Funeral Home handling arrangements. Pallbearers will be Steve Farmer, Andrew Farmer, Jimmy Bonny, Ray Harold Hardy III, Mike Chaney, and Hyman Jr. Riddell. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Samples, Leon Dennis, George Richardson, Billy Tucker, Bob and Sandy Tipton, Mike Burgess, Jerry Gilbert, Pepper Hardy, Butch Hardy, Donald Hardy, Eugene Bush, David Zohnd, Wayne Smith, Jr. Case, Jason Smith, B.J. Clair, Gary Freeman, Bobby Willis, Wayne Woolery, Clarence Noland, and Bill Eldridge. The family requests donations to Hospice Care Plus- Compassionate Care Center, 208 Kidd Drive, Berea, KY 40403.
