Roy Lee McCoy, 80, of Irvine, widower of Mildred Barnes McCoy, passed away Sunday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. A native of Martin County, he was the son of the late Barney and Rebecca Fitch McCoy. Mr. McCoy was an avid song writer. He enjoyed fishing at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia, music, spending time with his family, front porch coffee and mischief.
Survivors include his son, Danny McCoy; daughters, Darlene (Paul) Tuttle and Gina (Rick) Dunaway; brothers, Rudolph (Ethel) McCoy and Johnny (Sharon) McCoy; sisters, Dorthy (Jim) Maynard, Easter (Claude) Rogers and Effie (Max) Sloane; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and special niece, Brenda (Jack) Mangus of Smith Mountain Lake, VA.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 1st, at the Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Terry Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at the Dunaway Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 6:00 PM on Tuesday.
Serving as pallbearers will be Noah Tuttle, Jacob Tuttle, Brad Brinegar, Ryan Richardson, David Conrad and his good friend, Carl.
