Stephanie Pittman Schnittker, 75, wife of David Schnittker, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 24th. Mrs. Schnittker was a native of New York, a daughter of the late Malcolm and Marie Crawford Pittman. She graduated in 1955 from the Cattaraugus Central School. She lived in New York until relocating to Kentucky in 2001. She was a certified pistol instructor for the NRA. She was one of four women that was on a team that won the National Pistol Championship, where she placed 2nd in individuals. Her team was featured on the cover of the NRA magazine in 1972. She was a lover of art and music, an accomplished pianist, and an award winning artist. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, writing poetry, inventing, reading, and animals. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Steph was involved with many clubs and societies including Red Hat Society, Homemakers Club, Herb Club, The Estill Co. Dulcimer Club. She also sang in the church choir in Irvine First Baptist Church, and the Irvine Town Choir. She volunteered for the Breast Cancer Society. She was preceded in death by her son Steven Michael Behrns. Survivors besides her husband David include her children Maria Behrns, Robert William (Michelle) Behrns, David (Janet) Stewart Schnittker, and Shelly Schnittker McColumn; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, January 28th, 6:00 PM at the Irvine First Baptist Church, with Bro. Chris Winkler and Bro. Greg Humbert officiating. Friends may call anytime after 6:00 PM Monday January 27th, at the church.
