Suzanne Katherine Hughes, age 65, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born on Saturday, July 22, 1961, to the late Don Blackwell and Alfrieda Blackwell.

Suzanne was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy in life was caring for the family she loved so dearly. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her daughters and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. Suzanne cherished the 38 wonderful years she shared with her husband, Paul, and treasured the life and memories they built together.

Suzanne had a creative spirit and enjoyed working with her hands. She loved spending time in her garden, tending to her flowers, and especially loved daisies and lilacs. She was very crafty and creative, and her love for flowers was reflected in the beautiful things she created and cared for. Her kindness, creativity, and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Suzanne was preceded in death by her niece, Joey Daehler.

She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Paul Hughes, whom she cherished dearly; two daughters, Rebekah(Terry) James and Rachel (Chris) Keeney; three beloved grandchildren, WillowBelle James, Lyndon James, and Oliver Keeney; one brother, Mike (Linda) Blackwell; one sister, Deborah(Frank) Blackwell; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home of Irvine. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Amos- Richardson Cemetery.
