Velma Ruth Mansfield, 71, widow of William Earl Farthing Jr., passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025. Born in Estill County on June 11, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Bertha Hall Hardy.

Survivors include her daughters, Tonya Farthing of Lexington, Amy Riddell of Irvine; son Scott (Jenna) Farthing of Irvine; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sisters, Eunice Hortonbury of Frankfort, Ruby Riddell of Irvine, Kathy (Jesse) Carter of Irvine, Vivian Black of Frankfort; brother, Pete (Louise) Hardy of Irvine and long-term companion, Wayne Crooks.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Farthing, and brothers, Clayton, Albert, and Hugh Hardy.

Velma will be greatly missed and was loved by so many.

Service will be held at 12:00PM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Lewis Funeral Home by Bro. Sydney Sparks. Burial will follow in Hardy Cemetery. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Lewis Funeral Home from 6:00PM-8:00PM.
