Vina Powell Cruse, 87, mother of Bertha Tipton, passed away Friday, at her home following a long illness. Mrs. Cruse was a native of Estill County, a daughter of the late Andy and Sally Ann Larrison Powell. Mrs. Cruse was a retired employee of Irvin Industries of Lexington,homemaker, and member of the 1st Church of God, and an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Cruse Jr,; her first husband Colie Moberly; her sisters Margaret Richardson, and Betty Jean Powell; her brothers James, Harris, Bobby, Charlie, and Ed Powell. Survivors include her daughter Bertha (and husband Woody) Tipton; her step-sons David and Lowell Cruse; her grandchildren Robert (and wife Krissy) Muncie, Michael (and wife Kristi) Muncie, and Mike (and wife Lisa) Tipton; her great-grandchildren McKeely, Chase, Maci, Lexi and Preslee Muncie, Tara Raines, and Molly Tipton; her great-great grandchildren Tristan Estes, and Layla Rains; her sisters Christine (and husband Fred) Moore, and Barbara (and husband Doug) Bland; her brother Paul Powell; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 at Lewis Funeral Home, with Bro. Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Kimbrell Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 6:00 pm Monday. Pallbearers will be Robbie & Michael Muncie, Mike Tipton, Ron Lentz, Trevor Jones and Dwayne Tipton. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews, and Dwight Rison, Stephen Rison, and Donnie Watson.
